The Minerva School Team
At Minerva School, every student’s learning, wellbeing and sense of belonging is central. We operate with a foundation of trauma-informed practice and unconditional positive regard: we believe every child is worthy, seen, and respected, no matter their past or current challenges. Our goal is to ensure students feel safe, supported, and valued because we know that this is what enables growth.
Our teaching and support staff
Our staff bring together specialist knowledge, compassion, and consistency. Each member of our team is committed not only to academic progress but to nurturing emotional regulation, social literacy and self-regulation skills. We believe behaviour is communication, and we collaborate closely with families, caregivers and external professionals to understand and respond to student needs.
Our team utilises:
- Trauma-informed approaches, applying predictable routines and clear visual and verbal instructions.
- Sensory regulation supports like individual toolboxes and well-equipped classrooms.
- Individualised Behaviour, Learning and Transition Support Plans co-designed with families and external partners.
- Positive behaviour reinforcement through student-created class rules, merit awards and whole-school assemblies.
- Consistent modelling and high expectations that uphold our core values of safety, caring and learning.
In practice, visitors will see:
- Staff welcoming students with warmth and respect to build safe, positive relationships.
- Structured classrooms with predictable routines, visual supports and consistent expectations.
- Behaviour understood as communication, with responses focused on understanding and support.
- Ongoing recognition of student kindness, learning and effort.
- Strong collaboration with families through consistent communication, shared expectations and co-designed support.
Our school leaders
The principal and leadership team guide staff and students, strengthening literacy and numeracy growth, improving attendance and supporting successful post-school pathways. They foster a safe, caring culture grounded in trauma-informed practice and unconditional positive regard, viewing behaviour as communication and working closely with families and the wider community so every student can learn, grow and thrive.
Wellbeing and support staff
Our wellbeing and support team work closely with teachers to understand individual needs and provide tailored adjustments. They support our students individual education, transition and behaviour plans, and collaborate with families and external providers to ensure every student can participate fully in school life. Their expertise strengthens inclusion, builds resilience and supports each child’s learning and wellbeing. Our therapy dog Ted brings calm and cheer, proving that sometimes the best support has four paws and a wagging tail, while the team fosters inclusion, resilience and learning.
Administrative and operations staff
Our administrative and operations team keeps Minerva School running smoothly, supporting students, staff and families with efficiency and care. Whether welcoming visitors in the front office, managing daily administration or maintaining safe and inviting grounds, they ensure every part of school life functions seamlessly.
