Integrated Learning
At Minerva, we provide a rich and dynamic integrated learning program that connects curriculum areas and real-world experiences to support student growth across academic, social, and emotional domains. Learning is hands-on, play-based, and inclusive of Indigenous perspectives through initiatives such as the Walk on Country at Kurnell and Indigenous Art projects. Students engage in a variety of learning spaces, including our Yarning Circle, Kitchen Garden, Creative Arts Room, and Living Skills area, where programs such as the Breakfast Club promote independence and wellbeing. Our Music for Health and PDHPE programs offer a wide range of activities; from karate, dance, and gymnastics to swimming, AFL, and Boccia; encouraging active, healthy lifestyles. Through community partnerships such as Skillz4Me, Civic, PYLO, and CM Wellness, students build meaningful connections and life skills. Integrated opportunities in STEAM, including Robotics, 3D Printing, and Podcasting, further extend learning, ensuring every student has the opportunity to explore, create, and thrive.
Literacy
Our school offers a range of literacy programs designed to meet students at their point of need. We implement the Sounds Write and MiniLit programs to build strong foundational reading and spelling skills. To extend learning beyond these programs, Minerva has developed the Literacy for Life and Literacy in the Community programs, supporting students as they transition beyond Sounds Write and prepare for post-school life. Each term, our learning is centred around a core literary text, providing meaningful opportunities to develop comprehension, vocabulary, and a love of reading.
Numeracy
Our Numeracy program follows an explicit teaching model, ensuring that each student receives clear, structured instruction tailored to their individual learning pathway. We incorporate hands-on and movement-based activities to make learning engaging, practical, and accessible for all students. This approach supports a variety of learning needs and helps students develop confidence and enjoyment in numeracy.
